The Autódromo Mar del Plata is located on the outskirts of the city of Mar del Plata on the Argentine Atlantic coast, just 8 km from the sea.

The circuit opened in 1983 and has seen little change since, hosting races of the Super TC2000 series in the late 1980s, through the 1990s and into the early 2000s, although the top national series no longer visits the circuit.

Prior to the opening of the circuit, races in the city were held on street circuits, with racing dating back as early as 1948.

Like many Argentine circuits, the venue is now in need of some investment, with the track surface being in a poor condition in places.
